My passion for cooking comes as quite a shock to those who knew me in the first quarter of my life. It is hard to believe that in 2004 the extent of my cooking was making cereal and Totino's pizza rolls (ah the glory days with Ervetta Gypsyrose). I have come a long way from the girl who would only eat PB and NO J sammies and cereal, eating everything at least once. Now cooking, eating, and experiencing food with friends is my absolute greatest pleasure and making people's bellies happy gives me great joy. I have grown very aware of what I put into my body (not including the quantities of vino) as I have discovered food - sadly pizza rolls are a much missed part of my diet. Yes you may call me a Hippie if you wish, but people - it is your body, it is the only one you are going to get, so put stop putting so much processed crap into it and try using fresh, local, and organic foods as much as possible. Disclaimer - of course I eat processed foods, but I am VERY aware of when I am doing so, generally feel guilty, and probably eat much less processed food than 90 percent of Americans. Similarly, I cook almost every night. I love to go to restaurants and such, but cooking is my relaxation time and I love knowing what is IN my food (therefore IN my body) and seeing it come together. I will say this - as I develop more of a palate and more of a talent in the kitchen, it becomes increasingly harder to eat out because I want MY food.
